Somehow human beings, since the beginning of time, have managed to travel without the aid of mechanized devices, successfully spreading our species over most of the planet.
Nowadays, however, cars, airplanes, powerboats and other contrivances are the normal mode of transportation not only for people themselves, but most of the goods that we use on a daily basis. This amazing development of modern technology, while making modern travel tremendously rapid and easy, has divorced us from our “natural” means of locomotion and could eventually lead to environmental and economic catastrophe.

- I'm interested in nature, technology, and the human interface between the two. I see anthropocentrism (often combined with ethnocentrism and/or excessive religious fervor) as probably the most damaging human mindset, at least environmentally-speaking. A great goal of mine is to inspire a love of nature in people. I believe we will all benefit if everyone can create a bond with other organisms and feel the connectedness of all life on our planet. We all have to realize that humans are not separate from the rest of nature.
